HCC Volleyball Team to host Hometown Heroes Night

(October 15, 2019)— Hagerstown Community College’s Women’s Hawk Volleyball Team will host a fundraising event to benefit hometown hero, Ron (Spoonie) Spoonire on Friday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m., at the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC) on campus.

The Hawks will play the Montgomery College Raptors on Friday evening, with all proceeds from the game donated to Spoonire, a veteran of the Army and Air National Guard, and a beloved member of the volleyball and wrestling community. Spoonire, of Hagerstown, was a victim of a drunk driving accident in September and has been in critical care since.

Admission to the game is by donation. Catering will be provided by Mission BBQ of Hagerstown. Veteran and active military, as well as police, firefighters, and paramedics will eat for free with ID proof of service. Food and drink combos available for all others at $10.
