Jennifer Szczesniak named HCC Faculty of the Year

Hagerstown Community College recently recognized Jennifer Szczesniak, assistant professor of mathematics, as the faculty of the year for 2022.

Professor Szczesniak started her career at HCC in 2007, teaching a range of courses from developmental math to calculus, and has developed new curriculum including classes in applied algebra and engineering. She has spent the last 12 years as an advisor for HCC’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society chapter and is currently serving as the co-principal investigator for a National Science Foundation grant with Shippensburg University, to increase student enrollment in the secondary math education field.

Professor Szczesniak earned a bachelor’s degree from King’s College and went on to obtain a master’s of science in mathematics from Lehigh University. She is currently studying data science through the University of Texas at Austin.
