Open auditions for “Chicago” musical

Hagerstown Community College will present the Broadway hit musical, “Chicago” on April 28 and 29 at 8 p.m., and April 30 at 2 p.m., at the Kepler Theater.

Directed by Alyssa Little, this production will feature HCC students, as well as community members. For the first time, the HCC theater department is opening up auditions to the public. Fees and enrollment are optional and auditions are open to all skill levels.

Open auditions will be held in-person on November 28 and 30 at 3:30 p.m., at HCC’s Kepler Theater. Please bring a resume and current headshot (if available) and prepare 32 bars of musical theater song in the correct key in style of the show, with sheet music clearly marked with where the accompanist should start and stop. Also, come prepared to learn a short dance combination. Character shoes are encouraged but not required. You may be asked to read from the script. “Chicago” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals, Inc. The musical is based off of the book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse. Music is by John Kander and lyrics are by Fred Ebb.
