In today’s global economy, finding a skilled workforce that can meet the needs of area businesses is becoming more difficult. With population shifts, even larger gaps will develop between the skills needed and the number of individuals who are prepared with those skills. If you are an employer who needs those skills or just someone who is willing to get their hands dirty, then you can find opportunities through the Center for Continuing Education.
In this interest area, you can find classes on a variety of trade topics including HVAC, plumbing and pipefitting, welding, and electrical wiring. Plus in the industrial technology area, you can attend classes that cover important topics such as Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) or CNC machining.
Licensing classes are also available on several topics. The EPA Refrigerant Technician testing for HVAC is a certification you can earn in just three weeks. Or if you are already working in field, you can attend classes that help you prepare for your Master Electrician exam or Journeymen HVAC exam.
