May graduates who do not attend the ceremony will be mailed their diploma or certificate approximately three weeks after the last day of the semester.

Graduating with Honors

  • Only students receiving an Associate Degree are eligible to be awarded graduation honors. A seal is placed on the lower right-hand side of the diploma indicating Honors or High Honors.
  • A student must have successfully completed 32 institutional college-level credit hours at HCC.
  • Students receiving Honors must earn a cumulative GPA between 3.50 - 3.799.
  • Students receiving High Honors must earn a cumulative GPA between 3.80 - 4.0.
  • If you are a member of the honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, a PTK seal is placed on the lower left-hand side of the diploma.

Requirements for Students Who Choose to Earn Multiple HCC Credit Credentials

The awarding of multiple credit bearing degrees, certificates, and letters of recognition must follow criteria as specified below:

  • Letters of Recognition (LOR) - There must be at least three additional earned credits from different course work, not used in a previously earned HCC credential, for each additional LOR awarded.
  • Certificates - There must be at least six additional earned credits from different course work, not used in a previously earned HCC credential, for each additional certificate awarded.
  • Degrees - There must be at least twelve additional earned credits from different course work, not used in a previously HCC credential, for each additional degree awarded.

For students seeking to earn multiple credentials as listed above, if their new program does not have enough new credits listed as requirements, then the student must take additional course work to meet the minimum new course work provision as stated above. In such cases, a division chair or director will approve the appropriate course(s) to meet the requirement.

In cases where students' completed course work does not qualify them to receive a new credential (LOR, Certificate, Degree) they may be entitled to a double major designation. This would mean that they have combined the requirements of two credentials, without meeting the minimum requirements for receiving multiple credentials as specified above.

Reverse Transfer Students (Transferring College Credits Back to HCC to Graduate)

  • Students who transfer prior to completing their Associate Degree or Certificate may transfer appropriate credits back to HCC to complete their HCC degree.
  • Reverse Transfer students need to complete the online Application for Graduation process through WebAdvisor.
  • All students must complete at least 25 percent of their credit hours at HCC for a degree program or certificate program.
  • To transfer credits back to HCC, official transcripts from all other colleges or universities and official test results should be on file with the Admissions and Registration Office to be applied towards the final degree audit.
  • Students need to complete a Reverse Transfer Credit Application Request Form.
  • For questions or assistance regarding the reverse transfer process, please contact Chris Baer, academic advisor, at 240-500-2575 or wcbaer@hagerstowncc.edu.

WebAdvisor's Program Evaluation/Degree Audit

Students can check their degree status through WebAdvisor by performing a program evaluation:

  • Login to WebAdvisor.
  • Click on "Students."
  • Under the "Academic Profile" menu, click on the "Program Evaluation" link.
  • At the Program Evaluation form, your academic program will appear - if this is your desired academic program, click the box next to the program and click the "Submit" button.
  • If you wish to do a degree audit for a different program, there is a drop-down menu under the title, "What if I changed my program of study?" You may select an alternate program and then click submit.
  • If you selected your current program of study, you will be taken to your unofficial degree audit.  If you selected to view a changed program of study, you will be prompted to pick a catalog year. If you change a program of study, you will need to select the current academic year. This will take you to an unofficial degree audit.
  • By referring to the degree audit, you can estimate your timeframe to your degree completion. Program evaluations can be accessed online through WebAdvisor at any time.

Remember, you must submit an official Change of Degree Form if you wish to change your program of study. To submit a change of degree form request, login to WebAdvisor and select the "My Profile/Program of Study Change Form" link under WebAdvisor > Students > Academic Profile.
