  • HCC honors GED and EDP graduates

    Hagerstown Community College recently held its annual adult education commencement ceremony. Student speakers at the event included Esteban Vales, of Sharpsburg, to represent the National External Diploma Program (NEDP), and Amanda Myers, of Hagerstown, who represented the General Equivalency Development (GED) program. 

  • HCC middle college students to graduate

    The second class of students in the STEMM Technical Middle College (STMC) at Hagerstown Community College will graduate from HCC on Saturday. Fifteen students were recognized at a special ceremony on Tuesday for their significant accomplishments in earning associate degrees from HCC at the same time they are each completing high school. 

  • HCC to host Public Safety Awards Ceremony

    Hagerstown Community College will host the annual Public Safety Awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 17, beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the Kepler Center on HCC’s main campus. The public is invited to attend this event. Light refreshments will be served. 

  • Motorcycle refresher course to be held at HCC

    Hagerstown Community College and the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration’s Highway Safety Office will hold a workshop entitled “Motorcycle Safety Refresher for Experienced Riders,” on Saturday, May 21, from 1 to 5 p.m., in HCC’s Career Programs Building, room 232. The cost is $8 per participant.

  • Reminders for 2016 Commencement Ceremony

    HCC will hold its 69th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 9:30 a.m., in the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC). Students who are participating in this year's ceremony are expected to attend a Commencement Rehearsal on Friday, May 13, at 5:45 p.m., in the ARCC. Afterwards, students are invited to attend a Graduation Party at 7 p.m., in the ARCC lobby. Caps and gowns are available for pick up in the Campus Store or at the Commencement Rehearsal. 

  • Stacey McGee named HCC Faculty of the Year

    Hagerstown Community College recently recognized Stacey McGee, assistant professor of business and accounting, as the faculty of the year for 2015. McGee began teaching in 1999 as an adjunct faculty member at both HCC and Frostburg University. She became a full time faculty member at HCC in 2007. 

  • HCC recognizes outstanding adjunct faculty

    Hagerstown Community College recently recognized six of its outstanding adjunct faculty members for 2015. Kelly Weicht, who has been an adjunct instructor for the health sciences division since 1998, has been recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty member of the year.

  • HCC sociology class held fundraiser

    Students in Professor Daniel Madron’s civic engagement class at Hagerstown Community College recently held a fundraising event to benefit Children in Need, Inc., as part of a class project. Class members then organized a golf tournament to benefit Children in Need, which provides clothing and school supplies to low income students in Washington County. A total of $1,546 was raised from hole sponsorships, registration fees, and personal donations. 

  • HCC student receives national award

    Hagerstown Community College student Janai Heise, of Hagerstown, has been named a 2016 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Silver Scholar. She was recently recognized at the national Phi Theta Kappa convention held in National Harbor, Md. Heise, 18, is a biology major and will graduate in the summer of 2016 with an associate degree in biology and a certificate in biotechnology.
