The 36th annual Kris Kringle Holiday Craft Show will be held at Hagerstown Community College on Saturday, November 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, November 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC) on campus.
Free information sessions will be held in December and February for those who want to learn more about the dental assisting and dental hygiene programs at HCC. The first session will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the second session will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Children’s Learning Center at HCC held its annual Fall Fest on October 17. Teachers planned a variety of outdoor activities that included an obstacle course, pony and barrel rides, crafts, bean bag toss, a campus “pumpkin patch,” and other games.
HCC will host the combined Region XX and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MDJUCO) Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the outdoor track on HCC’s main campus. The women’s race will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s race at 11 a.m. Award ceremonies will immediately follow the men’s race.
HCC's Women’s Hawk Volleyball Team will host a fundraising event to benefit hometown hero, Ron (Spoonie) Spoonire on Friday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m., at the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC) on campus. Admission to the game is by donation. Catering will be provided by Mission BBQ of Hagerstown. Veteran and active military, as well as police, firefighters, and paramedics will eat for free with ID proof of service. Food and drink combos available for all others at $10.
Hagerstown Community College, in partnership with Worx Graphic Design, will host a one-day leadership event, entitled “Leadercast Women 2019: Unique Leadership Development Event for Inspiration and Networking,” on Friday, October 18, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Behavioral Science and Humanities Building on HCC’s main campus.
Students in Hagerstown Community College’s elements of dramatic production class will perform two one-act plays in the Kepler Black Box Theater at HCC on Oct. 25 and Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. “Trifles,” by Susan Glaspell, is a murder mystery play seen as an early example of a feminist drama. “The Sandbox,” by Edward Albee, is a satire based on false values and the lack of love and empathy in the American family.
The College Advancement Office at HCC is now accepting applications for scholarships offered through the HCC Foundation. The deadline for the spring semester is Sunday, December 1, 2019. To be considered, students must complete the 2019-2020 FAFSA and be registered for spring 2020 classes.
Sydney Gose of Greencastle, Pa., has been named the first female recipient of the Sgt. Richard H. Good Scholarship at Hagerstown Community College. Gose, who is studying administration of justice, is receiving $2,000 to cover tuition expenses for the fall of 2019 and spring of 2020.
The 2019 Washington County College Fair will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center at HCC.
