  • Washington County employees participate in HCC training

    A group of Washington County employees recently graduated from the Hagerstown Community College “Going for the Gold” leadership training program. Sixteen employees completed the 56-hour program which covers leadership topics including conflict resolution, managing change, and professional communications. 

  • HCC holds reception for TRiO Upward Bound students

    Hagerstown Community College recently held its fourth annual TRiO Upward Bound Reception. The event represents an end-of-the-year celebration for the TRiO Upward Bound students and their achievements during the 2015-2016 school year. Following remarks from HCC President Guy Altieri, attendees heard from student speaker Tara Buskirk, and keynote speaker, Asha’ Jones. 

  • U.S. Navy Sea Chanters to perform August 12 at HCC

    The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Navy Sea Chanters as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Friday, August 12, at 6:15 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater. Under the direction of Chief Musician Casey E. Campbell, the group performs a variety of music including choral arrangements and Broadway show tunes and travels throughout the United States, often appearing at state and national events. 

  • HCC names Ohl-Gigliotti as new dean of students

    Christine Ohl-Gigliotti has been named dean of students at Hagerstown Community College. In the role of dean of students at HCC, Ohl-Gigliotti will provide leadership and oversight of student affairs.

  • August Mid-Atlantic Fiction Writers Institute canceled

    Due to insufficient enrollment to ensure a quality experience for all participants, The Mid-Atlantic Fiction Writers Institute scheduled for August 12 and 13 has been canceled. Those who have already registered for MAFWI will receive a full refund. The Hub City Teen Writers Institute will be held as scheduled.

  • JLG sponsors girls engineering class at HCC

    JLG Industries, Inc., recently sponsored a week-long engineering course at Hagerstown Community College for girls entering grades six through eight. With a gift of $3,450, JLG covered the tuition for the 13 girls who applied for and participated in the class, entitled “Girls Exploring Engineering.” 

  • HCC extends hours of operation

    To better serve future and current students, Hagerstown Community College is now offering extended hours in Student Affairs, Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday hours will remain 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
