Students from Hagerstown Community College’s Elements of Dramatic Production course will perform Don Zolidis’ “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” from Friday, March 18, through Sunday, March 20, in the Kepler Center Blackbox Theater on HCC’s main campus. Show times are 8 p.m. on March 18 and 19. A special matinee performance will be held on March 20 at 2:30 p.m.
As part of the fourth annual Mid-Atlantic Fiction Writers Institute (MAFWI) at Hagerstown Community College, HCC will also offer a special two-day writing institute for teen writers between the ages of 13 and 19. The Hub City Teen Writers Institute, will be held on Friday, Aug.12, and Saturday, Aug. 13, the same weekend as MAFWI, and will feature a series of workshops and events specially geared towards aspiring fiction writers and poets.
Applications are now being accepted for the next class of the Hagerstown Community College Police Academy. The class starts July 5, 2016, and runs through December 16, 2016. The application deadline for April decision is March 31, and the final deadline is April 30.
Registration is now open for Hagerstown Community College’s fourth annual Mid-Atlantic Fiction Writers Institute (MAFWI). This year’s event will be held on Friday, Aug. 12, and Saturday, Aug. 13, and will feature bestselling author Brad Parks as the keynote speaker.
The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will hold its 22nd Annual Flower & Garden Show on Saturday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the ARCC. A variety of vendors will take part in the show, named as one of the area’s premier events.

Hagerstown Community College’s music department will host the annual Associated Chamber Music Players (ACMP) Worldwide Play-In Weekend on Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Kepler Center on campus. The event is free and open to people of all ages and abilities who wish to share and play chamber music.
Hagerstown Community College will host the University of Maryland Gymkana Troupe on Friday, March 4, beginning at 7 p.m., in the college’s Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC). Well-known for its high energy performances, Gymkana Troupe performs both men’s and women’s gymnastic apparatus routines, as well as novelty circus acts that incorporate the use of chairs, ladders, and trampolines.
Hagerstown Community College will host the Region XX Division I and Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament on Friday, Feb.26; Saturday, Feb. 27; and Sunday, Feb. 28; at the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC) on campus. The tournament is open to the public and will include men’s basketball teams from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Program information sessions for the STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math, medical) Technical Middle College at Hagerstown Community College will be held on Tues., March 1; Wed., March 23; Wed., April 6; and Wed., April 20, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the STEM Building, room 409.
