The English and Humanities Division at Hagerstown Community College will hold a winter dance concert on Saturday, December 7, at 7 p.m., in the Kepler Theater. Dance students will perform up-tempo jazz and tap numbers, modern and ballet dance.
Three Hagerstown Community College students recently won awards during the Maryland Society of Radiologic Technologists Student Essay Competition and Ted Lynch Award recognition. In this year’s essay competition, three HCC students won the top awards.
Program information sessions for the STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math, medical) Technical Middle College at Hagerstown Community College will be held on Wednesdays, November 20 and December 18, at 4 p.m., in the Learning Resource Center, room 254.
HCC's athletic teams will host the 19th annual “Turkey Trot” 5K run/walk/kids races and food/toy drive on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, on the HCC campus. Packet pick-up will start at 7 a.m., followed by the race start at 9 a.m. The Turkey Trot is a dog-friendly event and dogs may be registered for the race for $5.
The 36th annual Kris Kringle Holiday Craft Show will be held at Hagerstown Community College on Saturday, November 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, November 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC) on campus.
Free information sessions will be held in December and February for those who want to learn more about the dental assisting and dental hygiene programs at HCC. The first session will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the second session will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Children’s Learning Center at HCC held its annual Fall Fest on October 17. Teachers planned a variety of outdoor activities that included an obstacle course, pony and barrel rides, crafts, bean bag toss, a campus “pumpkin patch,” and other games.
HCC will host the combined Region XX and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MDJUCO) Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the outdoor track on HCC’s main campus. The women’s race will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s race at 11 a.m. Award ceremonies will immediately follow the men’s race.
HCC's Women’s Hawk Volleyball Team will host a fundraising event to benefit hometown hero, Ron (Spoonie) Spoonire on Friday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m., at the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC) on campus. Admission to the game is by donation. Catering will be provided by Mission BBQ of Hagerstown. Veteran and active military, as well as police, firefighters, and paramedics will eat for free with ID proof of service. Food and drink combos available for all others at $10.
Hagerstown Community College, in partnership with Worx Graphic Design, will host a one-day leadership event, entitled “Leadercast Women 2019: Unique Leadership Development Event for Inspiration and Networking,” on Friday, October 18, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Behavioral Science and Humanities Building on HCC’s main campus.
