The Continuing Education and Workforce Development Division at Hagerstown Community College recently awarded the American Management Association Certificate of General and Human Resource Management to six students. They each completed the seven-course, 49-hour program at HCC’s Valley Mall Business Training Center.
Four students recently completed the six-week mixology course at Hagerstown Community College, enrolled in the Techniques of Alcohol Management class, and received their industry certifications.
Hagerstown Community College dental hygiene instructor, Jennifer Suminski, recently had her research in oral care published in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing, Vol. 21, No.3.
The English and Humanities Division at Hagerstown Community College recently announced that dancer Gabriella Di Giuseppe has joined HCC’s dance department as an adjunct faculty member. At HCC, Giuseppe will be teaching hip-hop dance courses in which students will further develop their own hip-hop style and voice in choreography, strengthen their hip-hop dance technique, and further their knowledge of hip-hop dance history.
The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the 229th Army Band as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Sunday, June 25, at 6:15 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.
Hagerstown Community College is offering an EMT-I to Paramedic Bridge Program this fall. This one-year transition program allows those who are already EMT-I certified to become paramedics.
Hagerstown Community College recently received its second five-year Upward Bound grant, totaling $1.28 million, from the U.S. Department of Education. This grant is designed to increase the high school graduation and college completion rates of low-income, first-generation students.
The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host a free cruise preview meeting on Saturday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m., in the Learning Resource Center, room 108, on HCC’s main campus, for the upcoming 2018 Alumni & Friends Cruise. The 12-day cruise will be held from April 19 through May 1, 2018, aboard Holland America’s “ms Koningsdam.”
Ashlyn Rebok has been named head volleyball coach for the 2017-18 academic year at Hagerstown Community College. A HCC alumna, Rebok helped the Lady Hawks to two consecutive Region XX titles and trips to the NJCAA Division II National Championships in 2009 and 2010.
For Hagerstown Community College, that means that residents in Franklin and Fulton Counties, Pa.; Berkeley, Morgan, and Jefferson Counties, W.V.; and Loudoun County, Va.; will pay $230 per credit this fall, compared to $246 for other out-of-state counties. This will save these residents $48 on each three-credit course and at least $960 on a 60-credit associate degree.
