HCC and SU sign transfer agreements for music students

A collaboration between Hagerstown Community College and Shepherd University will create a new track for music students. The new “2 + 2 Pathway” will give HCC students who earn an associate degree in music the ability to seamlessly transfer to Shepherd University to complete a bachelor’s degree in choral, instrumental, music composition, or general music, with only 60 additional credits.

“Shepherd's music program has long been a first-choice for students finishing their music studies at HCC,” said Danny Webber, HCC associate professor of music and humanities. “Having these agreements in place provides a very smooth and efficient transfer for our students who plan to complete their bachelor degrees at Shepherd.”

The pathway involves four new agreements between the two schools that the Interim Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Shepherd University, Kurtis Adams, said will make it easier for students to pursue their passion.

“We are very happy to have worked together with our HCC partners to develop this 2+2 pathway,” Adams said. “This agreement will be so helpful for those students transferring between our two outstanding programs.”
