HCC receives $400K grant from Tri-County Council

Hagerstown Community College recently received a $400,000 grant from the Tri-County Council of Western Maryland for the Senator George C. Edwards Fund. The funds will be used to provide equipment for the D.M. Bowman Family Workforce Training Center.

“This grant will assist HCC in purchasing specialized equipment for the new Bowman Training Center for our transportation and trades programs. Students in the tri-state area will have the opportunity to get hands-on training in our programs,” said Theresa Shank, HCC dean of Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education.

HCC plans to purchase forklifts for material handlers, diesel trainers for heavy truck technicians, and a semi-tractor for commercial drivers.

For more information on the programs that will be supported by this grant, contact Theresa Shank at tmshank@hagerstowncc.eduor 240-500-2476.
