Before submitting a supplemental application for the nursing program, you must first apply for admission to HCC.
This application, official transcripts from all colleges attended (HCC calculates cumulative GPA from all college coursework as part of the scoring process), and official TEAS test results must be received by January 15 for the fall semester and the July 15 for the spring semester to be eligible for the program. Students completing classes at HCC do not need to submit an official HCC transcript. Program acceptance or denial letters will be mailed in mid-to-late March to those applying for the fall class and mid-to-late September to those applying for the spring class.
Program begins in August or January. Notification regarding acceptance into the program is mailed in mid-March (for August) or mid-September (for January).
At the time of application, BIO 203 must be completed or in progress and applicants must be eligible to enter college level Math and English. For the three-year option, applicants must also have a minimum of 12 credits of the following courses completed or in progress at the time of application. The courses include ENG 101 English Composition, an approved Mathematics course from the approved General Education course list (MAT 109 recommended), SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology, PSY 101 General Psychology, PSY 204 Developmental Psychology: Lifespan Human Development, BIO 203 Human Anatomy and Physiology I, and BIO 204 Human Anatomy and Physiology II. If you are using AP scores to meet any of these requirements, official scores must be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management by the application deadline. HCC accepts AP scores of three or higher.
- If you have recently graduated from high school, you must also submit your SAT scores for Math (500 or higher) and English (480 or higher), all official AP exam scores, and be enrolled in BIO-203-Human Anatomy and Physiology, if you are applying for the 2-year Pathway. SAT scores are only accepted if they have been taken within the past five years. Additional information can be accessed by contacting the Student Support Specialist of the Nursing Division or in the HCC Catalog.
All nursing applicants (LPN and RN) must complete the nationally-normed test for nursing students known as the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). You can access your official TEAS scores online through ATI's website.
