  • HCC accepts 93 new members into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

    Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the national honor society at Hagerstown Community College, recently accepted 93 new members. To be eligible for PTK, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and must have completed 12 credit hours of college-level work at HCC.

  • HCC’s Robinwood Players Theater Club hosted day of theater

    The Robinwood Players Theater Club at Hagerstown Community College hosted a day of theater on Saturday, May 6, in the Kepler Center on HCC’s main campus. The day of theater included free workshops and presentations open to HCC students and local high school juniors and seniors. Topics covered included stage combat, the audition process, Shakespeare, dance, improvisation, and voice, plus theater games and ice breakers.

  • HCC to offer life balance class

    The Continuing Education and Workforce Development Division at Hagerstown Community College is offering a class entitled, “Living Life as a Joyful Being: Be Ready for Whatever Life Brings,” on Mondays, June 5 to 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the HCC campus. 

  • HCC students complete job training

    During the 2016-17 academic year, 49 students from Hagerstown Community College completed internships, gaining job training at local businesses. Students from 19 different majors completed a total of 7,560 hours.

  • HCC to offer summer bridge program for high school students

    The STEMM Technical Middle College at Hagerstown Community College will offer a week-long Summer Bridge Program for area high school students interested in the STEM career field. The program is free for students grades nine through 12 and will be held June 19 to 23, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on HCC’s main campus. 

  • HCC to host NJCAA Region 20 Division I Baseball Tournament on May 12

    Hagerstown Community College will host the NJCAA Region 20 Division I Baseball Tournament on Friday, May 12, Saturday, May 13, and Sunday, May 14, at the Hagerstown Suns Municipal Stadium. On Friday, double elimination format game times are set for 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. Saturday games will be played at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., with the championship game being played on Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. 

  • HCC’s practical nursing program ranked top in state

    The Practical Nursing Program at Hagerstown Community College has been ranked number one in Maryland for 2017, by Of the 10 state-approved practical nursing programs in Maryland, ranked the top five, based on state test results and the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) pass rates for the past five years.

  • HCC Middle College to hold info sessions

    Program information sessions for the STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math, medical) Technical Middle College at Hagerstown Community College will be held on Wednesdays, May 3 and June 21, at 4 p.m., in the Learning Resource Center, room 254. 

  • HCC student Edison Ly accepted to West Point

    Hagerstown Community College student Edison Ly has been accepted to The United States Military Academy at West Point. Ly, 18, of Williamsport, has been enrolled in HCC’s STEMM Technical Middle College for the past two years. He will receive three associate degrees from HCC in May, in engineering, mathematics, and physics, just prior to his graduation from Williamsport High School. 

  • Cindy Dove named HCC Faculty of the Year

    Hagerstown Community College recently recognized Cindy Dove, associate professor and program coordinator of biotechnology, as the faculty of the year for 2016. Dove began teaching at HCC in 2000 as an adjunct faculty member, as well as the Science Learning Center coordinator. She became a full-time faculty member at HCC in 2005.
