Cohort Programs

New cohort programs help students succeed.

Trying to fit college into an already busy life can be a reason why students start a program and don’t finish. When students are able to learn together, they support each other and have greater success in attaining their educational goals.

HCC now offers cohort models for the following four programs:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Alternative Energy Technology
  • Digital Instrumentation and Process Control
  • Electrical Engineering Technology

A cohort is a group of students who take the same classes at the same time throughout their program. Cohort classes follow a more structured schedule than typical college classes and offer more one-on-one time with the instructor.

As students go through the program together, they get to know one another and study together, which fosters creativity and builds leadership skills. Students in a cohort also encourage and support each other, and help classmates finish on time.
