HCC grad, Matthew Walker, receives USM Scholarship

Hagerstown Community College 2025 graduate Matthew Walker has been selected to receive the prestigious Kelly Access Opportunity Scholarship through the University System of Maryland. He will receive $4,000 per year for two years.

Matthew, of Smithsburg, earned an associate degree in cybersecurity from HCC in May. This fall, he is attending the University of Maryland Global Campus to continue on the cybersecurity track. After completing a bachelor’s degree and several certifications, he plans to obtain a position helping protect private and public networks.

The Kelly Access Opportunity Scholarship is a competitive scholarship process, for eligible students who have completed a minimum of 56 college credits, close to a 4.0 GPA, have demonstrated financial need based on the FAFSA, and are in pursuit of any major leading to a bachelor’s degree at any USM Institution.
