Tobacco-Free Employee Guidelines

HCC's new tobacco- and smoke-free campus policy went into effect on January 1, 2015. Smoking and tobacco products (including e-cigarettes) cannot be used on campus.

During the month of January, verbal warnings will be issued. Beginning Feb. 1, 2015, employees who violate the tobacco-free policy will receive written warnings. Disciplinary process is as follows:

  1. First Offense: Employee receives a written warning.
  2. Second Offense: Employee is required to meet with the Director of Human Resources.
  3. Multiple Offenses: Employees who consistently violate the tobacco-free policy will be taken through the Employee Disciplinary Process. See Section 5 of the Employee Handbook for more information. Note: Disciplinary actions will be handled on a case-by-case basis at the director's discretion.

Please note that smoking cessation products are free under the Affordable Care Act.
