HCC Hawk Mascot Program

The Student Activities Office is looking for students to wear the HCC Hawk Mascot and be a mascot handler at college events and athletic games.

Students will be selected each semester and will receive a stipend of up to $500 at the end of the semester if they meet established goals.

HCC Hawk Mascot Program Requirements:

  • Good conduct, academic and financial standing at the College.
  • Enjoy interacting with people of all ages.
  • Comfortable performing (mascot) and speaking (handler) in front of people.
  • Be able to attend approximately 12-14 events throughout the semester; most events are pre-established.
  • Energetic, friendly personality.
  • Be organized, reliable and arrive on time.
  • Be physically fit and able to be active in hot conditions for 30+ minutes at a time. To fit into the mascot comfortably, ideal candidates will be 5'4" - 5'11" and not more than 200lbs.
  • Be willing to alternate during work time as the mascot and as the handler to the mascot.
  • Students will be required to submit a W-9 and complete an HCC Independent Contractor Agreement each semester.
  • HCC retains the right to terminate the Contractor Agreement at any time, for any reason.
     

Pre-established Mascot Event Days (subject to change)

For events longer than an hour, mascot will not be needed for the entire time. Specific times will be determined closer to event date. Applicants should be flexible and be generally available for most of the event time.

  1. Friday, Aug. 22 – New Student Orientation (8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.)
  2. Thursday, Aug. 28 - SGA Welcome Back luncheon (11:30 -12:30 p.m.)
  3. Friday, Sept. 18 - Club Fair (11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.)
  4. Thursday, Sept. 25 – DM Bowman Ribbon Cutting (2:45 – 3:30 p.m.)
  5. Sunday, Oct. 5 – Alumni Athletic Bingo (Elks Club 11 – 11:30 a.m.)
  6. Wednesday, Oct. 8 – Breast Cancer Awareness Volleyball Game (6:30 – 7:30 p.m.)
  7. Saturday, Oct. 11 – Athletic Hall of Fame Induction (5 – 7 p.m.)
  8. Tuesday, Oct. 21 – Fall Transfer Fair (11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)
  9. Wednesday, Oct. 23 – Community Trunk or Treat (6 – 7 p.m.)
  10. Thursday, Oct. 30 – Student Halloween Party (11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.)
  11. Saturday, Nov. 1 – Washington County STEAM Festival (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
  12. Athletic Events TBD (soccer, v-ball, basketball)
