HCC to host Earth Month events in April
In recognition of Earth Day, Hagerstown Community College will host a month-long celebration including several events related to protecting the environment on HCC’s main campus. All events are open to the public and free to attend.
Events include:
- Hike the HCC Nature Trail
Wednesday, April 1 at 3:30 p.m. | Meet in STEM Parking Lot
Walk the nature trail on campus. During the hike, there will be trash pickup and birding. Download the Seek by iNaturalist app to identify birds during the hike. In case of rain, there will be a showing of the movie, “Dark Waters,” in the STEM Building. - Speaker: Kenny Braitman
Tuesday, April 7 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. | Career Programs Building, Room 210/212 (CPB-210/212)
Veteran Kenny Braitman will share his journey from life-changing injury to building resilient food forests through permaculture and sustainable farming. Refreshments provided. Hosted by the HCC Environmental Club, HOSA, and Psych Club. - Sustainable Energy Production Panel
Tuesday, April 14 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. AC&T Student Center
Join this panel for a discussion on sustainable energy. Panelists include Assistant Professor Greg Betz, Mr. Ernest Harr, and Associate Professor Eric Schwartz. - Earth Day Fair
Wednesday, April 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. | AC&T Student Center
Learn about initiatives from local, environmental organizations. Free baby trees and native plant seeds will be handed out while supplies last. - “I Dig HCC” Campus Cleanup
Wednesday, April 22 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. | In front of AC&T Student Center, near volleyball court
Lend a helping hand to clean up Bioswales on campus. This event will be led by Master Gardener Judy Kofoet. Snacks and water will be provided.
