HCC hosts Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week

Hagerstown Community College invites the community to participate in its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week, January 19 to 22, honoring Dr. King and the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement. All on-campus events are free and open to the public.

The week’s signature community event, the Annual Community Peace Walk, will take place on Thursday, January 22, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Beginning in the HCC Student Center, the event will feature a brief opening ceremony followed by a reflective walk through campus, with stops highlighting Dr. King’s vision of peace, justice, and service.

In addition to the Peace Walk, the week’s activities include self-guided learning, student presentations, a “Lunch & Learn” discussion, and a day of service for HCC students and employees.

Schedule Highlights:

  • January 19: HCC closed in observance of the federal holiday
  • January 20: National Day of Racial Healing; student poster presentations in the Student Center
  • January 21: Lunch & Learn discussion in the Student Center at 11:30 a.m.
  • January 22: Annual Community Peace Walk

Community members, families, and organizations are encouraged to participate, especially in the Peace Walk. For more information, visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/mlk-celebration.
