What are the courses that are required?

• The Nurse Refresher Theory (NRS-988)
• The Nurse Refresher Skills (NRS094)
• The Nurse Refresher Clinical (NRS-743)
   

How long is the Nurse Refresher course?

• The Nurse Refresher course takes approximately 16 weeks to complete
• Theory consists of 10 weeks of theory, one classroom day per week and one live online class per week
• Skills consists of 12 hours of skills labs Friday evening and all day Saturday. Typically occurs halfway through Theory
• Clinical consists of 60 hours in a clinical placement under the tutelage of a clinical preceptor
   

Can I just take the Clinical or Skills and Clinical?

• HCC requires participants take all three components of the Nurse Refresher Program: Theory, Skills, Clinical
• Even if you have already taken Theory elsewhere, in order to be admitted to HCC’s Nurse Refresher program you must enroll and take all three components
   

What are my first steps in registering for the course?

• ALL potential students must first register for the Nurse Refresher Screening (HCE 036)
• Once registered, you will receive an email from Sterling with information on how to complete your background check.
• Once results from the background check are received, you will be invited to attend an Orientation Session
• ALL students MUST attend an Orientation Session before admittance into the program

Do I have to pay for the entire program at one time?

No, you may register (and pay) for each part of the Nurse Refresher Program separately or all at once.

What information is ok to come back on the background check?

If anything comes back on your background check, there will be a personal meeting set up with you and the program manager to discuss your options

Can I just do the online portion?

• Theory consists of both online and in classroom teaching
• You must attend both portions
   

Do I have to attend both days of labs?

Yes, it is required to attend both lab dates for the duration of the classes in order to pass the Lab Skills portion

Where is Clinical Placement?

• Clinical Placements typically occur in Washington County and are provided by the program.
• However, HCC cannot guarantee a placement in the specialty or shift you would like as there are limited clinical placement slots
   

What are my clinical hours going to be?

Your clinical schedule will be determined between you and your clinical preceptor
