HCC to hold annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration

Hagerstown Community College will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Thursday, Jan. 13, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., in the Kepler Theater at HCC.

The celebration will honor past and present service in Hagerstown’s historic African American community. Guest speakers include Tereance Moore and Reggie Turner, of Western Maryland Community Development Corporation, and Anne Martin, of Children in Need, Inc. A dramatic rendition of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech will be performed by the Reverend Darin Mency, from Hagerstown’s Greater Campher Temple.

HCC students, staff, and faculty are involved in planning this event, which is free and open to the public. A live stream of the event will be available on HCC’s YouTube Channel at www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Zc3Fq7Xwo. For more information, contact HCC’s Student Affairs Office at 240-500-2526.
