HCC Student Receives Prestigious National FFA Honor
William Alan Monroe Moore, a student at Hagerstown Community College (HCC) and president of the college’s Student Government Association, has received one of the highest honors in the National FFA Organization: the American FFA Degree.
Moore was one of 17 members from Maryland, and among 5,817 FFA nationwide, to be recognized as American FFA Degree recipients during the 99th National FFA Convention and Expo, held October 24 in Indianapolis. As part of the recognition, recipients received the organization’s Golden Key. Less than one percent of FFA members nationwide earns this distinction.
A member of FFA for eight years, Moore began his journey with the Boonsboro Middle FFA Chapter, where he pursued an Equine Management Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). He later focused on agricultural education and history. During his FFA career, he also served as Maryland FFA State Treasurer from 2024-2025 and currently serves as the MD FFA Alumni Region 1 Representative.
“From the beginning to the end, FFA has given me opportunities, friendships, challenges, and lessons that I will carry well beyond my time as an active member,” Moore said.
Moore's achievement recognizes his years of commitment, leadership, and involvement in agricultural education and the FFA organization.
