HCC's Continuing Education and Workforce Development has partnered with BEACON House, Inc. to provide a limited number of scholarships for the Pumpkin Chunkin and Horror Movie Cinematography classes this fall. Applications are due October 1. Notifications will be sent via email by October 5.
Horror Movie Cinematography - Middle School
It was a dark and stormy night and Bryan and Janay were alone in the house because their parents went out to the movies? We all have seen movie trailers and horror movies. Now is your chance to create your own movie trailer! BEACON House, Inc., A STEAM Education nonprofit invites you to learn how to create different sound effects, create realistic make-up, costumes, story plot, and all of the other items to make a horrifically awesome horror movie trailer with your smart phone and iMovie!!! The best trailer will receive an extra-special reward!

Pumpkin Chunkin - Middle School
Is it a bird? A plane?...No it is a PUMPKIN!!!! Time to put those leftover fall decorations to a good use as we learn to build and then construct a catapult or trebuchet to see who can launch the pumpkin either the farthest, the most accurately, or the most creatively. BEACON House, Inc., A STEAM Education nonprofit invites you to investigate the history behind these devices as well as the science and mathematics needed to increase your launch distance and control your pumpkin projectile to hit the target! Join us for a smashing good time of engineering using these medieval devices!
