General Grievance Policy & Procedures for Students

The purpose of this policy is to provide a formal method of recourse to students who feel that a particular action or serios of actions on the part of a HCC employee has violated accepted or stated institutional practices and standards.

Students should refer to student concerns appropriate to this policy and process for filing a grievance starting page 49 of the Student Handbook.

Student Grievance Procedure for Disability Support Services

HCC’s Disability Support Services is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and its amendments; the provision of reasonable accommodations is determined on an individual basis. HCC’s Director of Cohorts, Compliance, and Intervention acts as the College’s 504/ADA Coordinator. The grievance procedure for a student unsatisfied with their receipt of disability support accommodations is outlined at Student Grievance Procedure for Disability Support Services.

Athletic Programs and Activities Grievance Policy

The Athletic Programs and Activities Grievance Policy ensures a process through which students can share concerns about HCC’s athletic programs and activities with senior administrative professionals who are not directly involved with the management of athletic program or activities. Written grievances regarding HCC athletics may be submitted to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Student Services: 240-500-2231, LRC-317.
