HCC’s Career Closet Pop-Up Shop to be held in March

The Career Closet Pop-Up Shop at Hagerstown Community College will be held March 18, 19, and 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Student Center, upper dining area.

All students are welcome to attend the event and select up to five items, free of charge, with student ID. The items have been donated and include gently used professional clothing and accessories.

HCC to host Career Expo on March 28

The Washington County Career Expo at Hagerstown Community College will be held on Friday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Athletic, Recreation, & Community Center (ARCC) on the HCC campus. The event is free for job seekers and attendees.

The event will allow participants to discover job opportunities and pathways to employment in Washington County, explore community employment resources and support services, and meet many of Washington County's leading companies and organizations.

The Washington County Career Expo is hosted by HCC in partnership with Washington County Business and Economic Development; Washington County Chamber of Commerce; and, Washington County Public Schools. The Washington County Career Expo and HCC Open House will be held simultaneously in the ARCC.

HCC seeks professional clothing donations for students

Hagerstown Community College’s Career Development, Internship and Job Services Office is conducting its annual clothing drive to collect clean, lightly worn, and ready-to-wear professional clothing and accessories. The donated items are made available, free of charge, to students who are preparing for internships and employment opportunities.

Since 2018, the Career Closet has served an average of 150 students annually. Students with the WCPS Marshall Street School Job Development Program assist in the coordination of this annual event.

The clothing drive will continue through March 31, 2025. Acceptable items include jackets, shirts, blouses, skirts, dresses, pants, suits, shoes, ties, scarves, and jewelry/accessories. Donation collection boxes are located in Hagerstown at the following locations:

  • HCC Valley Mall Campus (17301 Valley Mall Road)
  • HCC Main Campus (11400 Robinwood Drive – ASA Building, CP Building, ATC Building and Student Center)
  • Washington County Chamber of Commerce (1 S. Potomac Street)
  • Washington County Public Schools (10435 Downsville Pike)

HCC’s Career Closet offers a full pop-up shop for students, on campus each semester.

Guidelines for Using Current Employer as Internship Site

It is the intent of this guideline to provide students with the option of receiving academic credit through an Internship experience that is linked to their present part-time or full-time job. The student must secure pre-approval from the employer in writing stating the employer’s willingness to support, plan and sign a formal contract with student intern and college.
