Ken Conway
Ken Conway started riding motorcycles in 1976 but took a break for a few years. He got back to it in 2003 and has been riding ever since. Conway is a retired mechanical engineeer, so he's always looking at ways to make things better. (And to answer your question: yes, he's wearing a motorcycle helmet running the snowblower - when you see him, ask him why.)
Dale Cooper
Dale Cooper has been riding motorcycles since age 12 and has over two million miles of riding experience. His background in motorcycle safety goes back as far as 1975 when he was the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Officer for the Naval Air Station, in Norfolk, Va., and Patuxent River, Md.
Shawn McClain
Shawn McClain has been riding motorcycles for about 40 years. In his spare time, he is a designer/consultant for a stair and railing manufacturer. McClain is originally from Harrisburg, Pa., and rides a 2007 HD Electric Glide Classic. McClain is another instructor who likes to take long trips and travel all over the United States on his motorcycle. He has been an AMA member for 15 years. Shawn is fluent in sign language, so if you are too, strike up a conversation.
Renee Tyson
Renee Tyson has been riding motorcycles since the age of 15 and has been a Rider Coach since 2001. (Interestingly enough, she was one of the first 100 Harley-Davidson Rider's Edge coaches.) Being a member of a family who moved frequently, Tyson has taught in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and Alabama. You never know who you will run into in the motorcycle industry, and she has seen familiar faces all over the country. Tyson enjoys helping new students evolve into riders and loves to see the lightbulbs go off when the students "get it."
Scott Keimig
You might not see Scott Keimig teaching at HCC, but you'll see Scott at HCC. Keimig is the Quality Assurance Supervisor assigned to the western Maryland region of the Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program. You will see him observing all the college's instructors to make sure you get the highest quality instruction possible. Keimig is an avid motorcyclist and has been riding for over 40 years and is a fan of sport-touring motorcycles.
Dave Burkholder
Dave Burkholder started riding dirt bikes in 1970 and has been a licensed rider since 1978. He is a software engineer by trade, but he loves cooking, and riding wrenching on motorcycles. Burkholder has owned and operated all different types of bikes in his riding career and currently rides a Suzuki SV650 and a Honda Goldwing.
