Admission Requirements

The Early College Degree Program (ECDP) at Hagerstown Community College (HCC) is for high school juniors and seniors only.

The program is available to students from the following locations: Washington County Public Schools (WCPS), out-of-county schools, out-of-state schools, private schools, and homeschools.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications to be accepted:

  1. Minimum 3.0 high school GPA*
  2. Successful completion of Algebra ll
  3. Additional requirements for select programs
    • For Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering Science, Environmental Studies, Mathematics, or Physics - Minimum 3.75 high school GPA
    • For Biology, Chemistry, Engineering Science, or Physics - Successful completion of high school chemistry

*Interested students may contact the Early College Programs office to determine if they can qualify using alternative standards. Some alternatives include HCC placement test scores, MCAP scores, and SAT/ACT scores.

Priority Deadline: March 1, 2026
Regular Deadline: May 1, 2026

There is only one application cycle per year. Please apply by the posted deadlines if you want to enter the program in the upcoming fall or spring semester.

The 2026-2027 Early College Degree Program Supplemental Application will be available and posted here from January 15, 2026 to May 1, 2026.

What to Expect after Applying

  • You should receive a confirmation email when your Supplemental Application is submitted.
  • Applications will be reviewed shortly after each deadline. They are not reviewed on a rolling basis, which means that, if you apply after March 1st, your application will not be reviewed until after the May 1st deadline.
  • Decision letters will be sent within two weeks of each deadline. Please ensure that an appropriate mailing address is on file with the HCC Admissions office.
  • Advisors will not meet with students for class registration until applications have been reviewed and decision letters have been sent. Instructions for scheduling an advising appointment will be sent to accepted students with their decision letter.
