Wildlife CSI: Using forensic hair analysis to solve a crime in the forest

(MS/HS) Students use a compound microscope to examine and draw hairs from known animals and compare them to hairs found at the scene of a crime (“crime” context varies depending on the age of participants) to solve the crime. May be a nice extension to 5th grade outdoor school experience. Materials available: Supplies list and directions, guide for STEM event activity, student worksheet.
