Nursing Division
HCC's Nursing Division prepares students to meet the needs of an increasingly globalized and diverse world in healthcare. Programs in this division integrate scientific knowledge with the fine art of caring and teach students high-level technical skills and critical thinking in order to allow them to skillfully administer the best possible nursing care to their patients upon program completion. Both the RN and LPN curriculum meet the Maryland state educational requirements and are fully accredited by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Evening/Weekend Nursing Program Coming Spring 2025
A new Evening/Weekend Registered Nursing Program will begin in January of 2025. Through a partnership with Meritus Medical Center, 24 students will be admitted each year to participate in this program. Classes and labs will be held at HCC during evening hours, with clinical instruction to occur on weekends at Meritus Medical Center and other clinical facilities.
It is especially geared toward those students who have not been able to obtain their dream of becoming a nurse because of circumstance, current work commitments, or family responsibilities.
This program offers is a dynamic and interactive process that views the client, family, and community holistically. The curriculum includes a balance of general education, current nursing theory, and clinical and laboratory experience. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Practical Nursing (LPN)
Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) are trained to work in a variety of settings including home health agencies, doctor's offices, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.

Registered Nursing (RN)
The RN Program provides educational opportunities to qualified students utilizing a curriculum that is designed to prepare graduates to function as entry-level registered nurses.

LPN to RN Transition
This track is for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who wish to complete a registered nursing program with an associate of science degree.

This track is for paramedics who wish to complete a registered nursing program with an associate of science degree.
