Registered Sex Offenders

All registered sex offenders who want to take classes at HCC must first meet with the Dean of Students and a representative from the HCC Police Department. Sex offenders must apply virtually to HCC and receive a student ID number before this meeting and are not allowed on campus until this meeting takes place. Prospective students can request a meeting by emailing studentaffairs@hagerstowncc.edu or calling 240-500-2526.

At the meeting, college expectations and parameters for being on campus will be reviewed. A document will be signed to show mutual understanding. After the meeting, sex offenders may take placement tests and meet with a Student Support Advisor to plan their classes. Once registered for classes, the Dean of Students will let the student know if any additional rules need to be followed, based on their class schedule and educational goals. If the sex offender has attended HCC before, their past behavior at the college will also be considered. Continuing students may need to meet with the Dean of Students and the HCC Police Department before each new semester to review their new classes and update parameters for the sex offender’s time on campus, if needed. HCC may change parameters each semester, depending on the student’s behavior and campus safety needs. Registered sex offenders should allow up to four weeks to complete this process before starting classes.
